Create Manual Shipping Confirmation Emails

Duplicate a shipment confirmation email, create an order source, and assign the template to send tracking confirmations for manually entered orders.

Is This What I'm Looking For

Use this article when you manually enter orders that aren't connected to a shopping cart connection, and you need those customers to still receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information. Without it, customers on manually entered orders never get tracking details after their order ships. This article does not cover automatic shipping confirmations for orders that come through a shopping cart connection.

Before You Begin

  • Permission Level: You need access to edit the Email Template, Order Source, and Order Tables

  • Prior Setup Required: A working Shipment Confirmation Email template

  • Have on Hand: The Line of Business (LOB) ID for the orders you enter manually

Steps

  1. Duplicate the Shipment Confirmation Email template for the LOB, personalizing as needed.  ManShipConfEmail1
  2. Create a new Order Source for this LOB's manually entered orders and assign the new email template.                                ManShipConfEmail2
  3. Assign the Order Source when you create the order.ManShipConfEmail3

What You Should See

Once the order's Shipment status changes to In-Transit, InfoPlus automatically sends the shipment confirmation email with tracking information to the buyer.

Troubleshooting

The customer didn't receive a shipping confirmation email after the order shipped:

Why this happens: InfoPlus only sends the shipment confirmation email once the order's Shipment status changes to In-Transit. If that status hasn't updated, the email hasn't triggered yet.

How to fix it:

  • Confirm the order's Shipment status shows In-Transit
  • If it does and the email still hasn't sent, verify the correct email template is assigned to the order source used for this order
