Online Holiday Sales Growing, and eCommerce is a Large Part of It

The Holiday Rush is always a busy season for retailers (and the vendors that support them). It can also be a time of great angst, because so much of a company’s financial health hinges on a successful holiday sales season. So what can retailers expect this year?

The team here at Infoplus makes a point of keeping up with those kinds of stats, because it helps us better understand and serve our retailer clients. And that is why we are passing along these key findings from eMarketer.com.

Of particular interest is the shift in the public’s perception of Black Friday shopping: “Shopping online on Black Friday is now more ‘traditional’ than hitting up brick-and-mortar stores, according to August 2016 research.” People are increasingly wanting to avoid the crowds and spend that holiday time with family...but they still can’t pass up a good deal and a chance to knock out that holiday gift list.

The blog also predicts that “overall holiday retail sales is poised to see an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period last year.”

This is all good news for retailers, especially those who have invested in their online presence. Now the trick will be to handle that upcoming holiday rush.
